How it all began
Doc Allison and Floyd Marble
In 1977 two alcoholics named Dr. Gordon James Allison "Doc" and Floyd Marble, wrote a grant and started The Problem Drinking Center in Livingston Mt. Doc and Floyd knew there was great need for the proper treatment of individuals facing addiction to alcohol and other drugs. They rented a small apartment above the Sax and Fryer in downtown Livingston, this is where The Problem Drinking Center was born. Within the first year and showing the small community of Livingston what an asset the treatment of addiction was, they were able to move into the City County Complex and the name was changed to Park County Alcohol and Drug referral agency. It was only after other offices were established in Beaverhead, Powell, Madison, Meagher and Broadwater counties that the name was changed to Southwest Chemical Dependency Program. Thousands of lives have been changed because two alcoholics saw a need to help.
